The Namdeb Social Fund (NSF) donated over three million Namibian dollars to forty two projects and organizations country wide at a ceremony held at the Safari Conference Centre in Windhoek on Wednesday, 21 February 2007. The beneficiaries ranged from the following categories: Education N$1, 309,815 (41%) Health & Welfare N$1, 024,250 (33%) Sports N$441,500 (14%) Community Development N$305,000 (10%) and SME’s N$ 70,000 (2%)

In her keynote address Namdeb MD, Ms. Inge Zaamwani said that through Namdeb’s support, the NSF seeks to partner with community development organizations, welfare and educational projects working to bring lasting change in areas that need it most.  The fund she said was established in 1994 and over the years has been a consistent and reliable partner of many Namibian organizations and community projects.  She noted that over the past 13 years, the NSF has donated close to 20 million Namibian dollars to various beneficiaries, thus becoming Namibia’s leading corporate social investment fund.

Speaking at the same occasion, Hon Petrina Haingura, Deputy Minister of Health & Social Services urged beneficiaries to make good use of the donations, by being truly honest and accountable to the very last penny.

Delivering a note of thanks to Namdeb on behalf of all the beneficiaries, Hon Haingura reminded the beneficiaries that the success of the donations given to them will depend on the manner in which the project leaders and communities will make use of it.  She further called on all of them to ensure that the resources were well utilized and used for the intended projects and added that the high responsibility, which Namdeb always display in this manner, must be appreciated by all.

She commended Namdeb for having been one of the best good corporate citizens of Namibia and noted that its track record speaks for itself and the act of goodwill it has shown to the people of Namibia has certainly not gone unnoticed.  She further remarked, “What we have witnessed here today is true smart partnership between Namdeb, the Government of the Republic of Namibia and its people. I am overwhelmed by your generosity in today’s display of genuine care”.

Namdeb prides itself for strict adherence to its values system of Care to its Stakeholders.  The NSF supports the efforts of many community organizations and development projects working to bring change in areas that needs it most.  It responds to initiatives of projects and organizations that approach the fund – people taking up the challenge of their own development.
