NAMDEB THANKED FOR HELP SAVING THE RHINO

A diamond donated by Namdeb to the “Save the Rhino Trust” was auctioned for N$14 000 at a fundraising event held in London recently.

After the event, the Corporate Fundraising Manager of Save the Rhino International, Petra Fleischer, thanked Namdeb for its support towards the “Desert Rhino” fundraising event.

The proceeds of the evening will be split between Save the Rhino International and Save the Rhino Trust Namibia, where a dedicated team is busy with the conservation of the desert-adapted Black Rhino inhabiting the communal areas in the arid north-west of the Kunene and Erongo regions.

The event raised a staggering N$350 000 for Save the Rhino Trust. The diamond was sold to the highest bidder, Nicholas Lawson.

Fleischer said the event was a huge success as both the dinner and dance tickets sold out way before the actual date. She noted that the conservation work being done relies heavily on donor partners like Namdeb.

Save the Rhino Trust is an indigenous Namibian NGO which aims to promote the protection and sustainable management of the Black Rhino, elephant and other fauna and their environment, focusing mainly on the communal areas of northwestern Namibia.
