Affirmative Action
Namdeb has committed to designing and instituting Affirmative Action measures to ensure that persons from groups, who were placed at a disadvantage during the history of the Country, are provided with the opportunities at all levels of employment within the company and equitably represents the workforce.

Initiatives taken by Namdeb to ensure accurate and effective implementation of Affirmative Action Policy include:

Succession Planning
The Company is committed to drawing up and maintaining a succession plan which includes the Company’s HR requirements, career plans, individual training and development plans. The succession plan is aimed at filling vacant positions within the Company with internal candidates from designated groups, provided that such candidates have the ability to perform to the required standard.

Namdeb Bursary Scheme
The Namdeb Bursary Scheme is aimed at ensuring the Company has a continuous succession of adequately competent and tertiary educated professionals at middle and senior management levels. The Namdeb Bursary Scheme ensures and assists the Company to achieve its AA Objectives.

In the effort to ensure that Namdeb has a continuous succession of adequate competent professionals with tertiary education qualifications, Namdeb has introduced the Namdeb Bursary Scheme to ensure achievement of our AA Objectives.

Diversity Initiatives
Namdeb is committed to, and has implemented, a Company-wide Diversity programme. This is an innovative business process that garners the competitive strengths and advantages of a well motivated and fully engaged workforce. This is being done within the framework of our current Strategic Plan by

3. Evolving consensus on what constitutes a reasonable corporate culture in the organization.

In recent developments, the Namdeb Further Affirmative Action Report reflecting Namdebs’ successful implementation of its AA Policy between the period of the submission of the Company’s AA Report and present time, has been approved and found to be satisfactory by the Employment Equity Commission of Namibia.
