ORANJEMUND PRIVATE SCHOOL

The Oranjemund School is co-educational, catering for all children up to senior primary level.
The Pre-Primary school gives the children excellent grounding, before they are integrated into the primary school from Grade 0 (school readiness) to Grade 7.

Principal and HOD’s of well known and well established high schools visit Oranjemund annually to recruit from our Grade 7 school leavers, and most of the learners are accepted at the high school of their choice.

The medium of English, although Afrikaans is offered as a second language.
The specialist field of teachers include a Music Teacher, who tutors individual pupils in recorder and piano, as well as coaching the school choir and the normal music session per week.

There are specialist teachers for Art, Design and Technology. The school also manages a children's library on campus with a full time Teacher/Librarian. Remedial work is offered to children with specific remedial needs and Special Education classes are available for children in the Junior Intermediate and Senior phases.

Since Oranjemund is rather isolated, the school frequently invites educationalist to offer workshops and seminars.
Subjects which have been introduced in this way include Co-operative Learning, 'Motorics', Lateral Thinking and Life Skills.

COMPUTER CENTRE
There are 25 computer work stations accessed by all learners from Grade 3 to Grade 7. Computer Literacy classes are offered to all pupils.

SECONDARY SCHOOLING
Since there is no high school in Oranjemund, Namdeb makes an annual grant in respect of each child receiving secondary education outside the company’s fields. The Company  reimburses parents for the hostel fees they have to pay, up to a set limit, which is reviewed annually. The children travel by luxury chartered busses to and from Cape Town, or Windhoek and Swakopmund, at no cost to the parents. For more information on this service, contact Ria Smith at HR Services, Tel: 235191 or Mrs. Pearl Peters (School) at 235318 for further information.
Before you enroll your child into a high school, please liaise with Mrs. Smit or Mrs. Peters, to ensure that the proposed high school is included in our established bus routes.
It is the individual parent's responsibility to find a high school for his/her child and enroll him/her.
